MENTOR PROGRAM - WHAT IT IS, WHAT IT ISN'T

If our mentor program is appealing to you, either as a mentee or mentor, we would like to share some thoughts and information about mentoring – what it is, and what it is not.

Know that we track you and the program to ensure we are delivering the best quality program that meets your needs.

The Mentoring Relationship

The relationship between the mentor and the mentee is based upon trust and mutual consideration for the other party’s time and talents or potential. Both parties benefit personally and professionally from a good relationship and can speak to each other in open and constructively honest forum. Should personal differences become a challenge, the mentor and mentee both have an obligation to try to resolve the issues between themselves in a professional manner. If an impasse is reached, contact your mentor program administrator for assistance in finding a resolution or a new placement.

Mentor Definitions

A mentor is an experienced professional who forms an active helping relationship with a mentee. In this program, the relationship is a planned partnership over a specific period of time to help the mentee reach specific goals.

Mentor Actions

A mentor helps a mentee through encouragement. Their inspiration and advice provide a sincere belief in the abilities of the mentee to succeed. They also provide professional and technical instruction and introductions to additional people who can help. A mentor gives constructive feedback and may serve as a career role model.
